Project at the W

So, ever since I’ve lived in Austin [a whopping 1 3/4 years], there has been a lot of buzz about the W. It’s hopping & right where the action is on 2nd St. District, Austin. Compared to where we live, which is only a block away, this is the mansion. I thought there was too much hoopla about it until I went inside just a few weeks ago. The carpet is plush, the wallpaper is well thought of…and shut up, even the elevator plates [you know that little box where the push buttons are] has a chevron pattern! Details! Details! They’re all so important…and what?! Their fitness center has a sauna and spa…I’m so jealous!Anywho, I’m helping a friend | client with their place. Not that they need much help, this couple is young, beautiful and style-savvy. So, these are the initial mood boards I made for them. And may I say, the couple loved it..and well, with a few tweaks here & there. The inspiration? Bali, Hotel St. Cecilia, the shop Red.

It will all come together soon & I’m so excited. We just found some one-of-a-kind things at Austin Antique Mall [this antique shop is huge!]. On another note, I just lost a project I was doing in one of the downtown condos as well. Bummer, I cried on this one. Apparently, dealing with clients is harder than it looks. 🙂 See you all soon!

About Maureen

Details are my passion. From curating vignettes to designing spaces. I thrive in finding the finds and just discovered the art of collecting...all while sipping on a cafe au lait & a french macaroon in hand.

  1. I have stayed at several W hotels and loved each of them. I especially loved the New Orleans property…at Christmas, the decorations were very minimalist…and perfect for the hotel.

Love many of your design selections. Can’t wait to see what you do with them.

ps Thanks for visiting. The pasta and shrimp salad is not terribly high in calories, just watch portions and use Dreamfields pasta. (I am a diabetic, and this salad didn’t hurt my numbers.)
