With the rise of lovely websites such as Etsy and Craftzine, no doubt, a lot of us are liking the idea of having something unique and handmade in our home. But what if, at the same time we’re also being globally responsible and helping the artisans of the world?
Last year, I discovered this website that is all about supporting that thought. Novica, an affiliate of National Geographic offers home goods, clothing and accessories from corners of the world such as Thailand, India and Brazil to name a few. I ordered a few things from them for Christmas and I was more than pleasantly surprised. Each item was gift wrapped so wonderfully and have card enclosures containing a description of the item and about the artisans themselves. The items are even more gorgeous than the ones at the website and so well-crafted. See for yourself!
This is how the dictionary defines ARTISAN:
noun \ˈär-tə-zən, -sən, chiefly British ˌär-tə-ˈzan\
