Free spirited and eclectic, my design style is always evolving. I recently graduated from The University of Texas's Interior Design program and am figuring things out as I go. I have a passion for personality and love a deep discussion of life, the universe, and everything. Philip K. Dick novels and YouTube comedians are my trivia specialties, so if you're ever in need of a teammate at Flying Saucer, I'm your girl.
In perusing my standard decor site go-to’s like Interior Design magazine and Elle Decor, I came across a beautiful slideshow of various decor styles based around a chandelier. A gorgeous idea, of course, but what really struck me was one image of a dining room featuring a branch chandelier:
The furniture, table setting and accessorizing of this room is wonderful on it’s own (very rustic with simple classicism) but wow! That chandelier! It looks like something out of a fantasy movie…if you told me there were fairies living in it, I’d believe you.
Next I spotted this little lovely that’s a bit more garden fairy than forest fairy inspired:
This room is a little more neutral and airy, although personally I’m not a huge fan of the light wood chairs with the dark wood chairs. But again, look at that awesome chandelier! I never imagined I’d want a conservatory in my house after some traumatic games of Clue, but this might just change my mind.
And of course if you’re wanting something a little less room defining but still full of greenery, check out this tabletop chandelier.
Pretty cute huh? We’re loving these green chandeliers, almost like hanging planters, because spring is rapidly approaching and for us, it can’t get here fast enough!
OH! And just to throw this in right at the end…in case you were wondering where to pick up a little hanging greenery of your own, we’ve got you covered with these fabulous things:
Not that we take our styling tips from Portlandia, but seeing the “Put a bird on it!” skit did make me laugh because I am completely in love with bird-inspired decor! Honestly, I’m immediately more interested in any decor accessory that features a bird or feathers…we all have our weaknesses right?Bird patterns are one of our favorite things for French Country March here at the shop, but anything bird-inspired will do for adding a touch of nature and chicness to your decor. Now, I know I may be a little biased, but really I think we have some of the awesomest bird-inspired decor pieces I’ve seen anywhere. And yes, spell check says awesomest is a word haha.
Vintage-inspired sepia tones make these bird patterned pillows at home in a rustic abode, yet the minimalist color scheme keeps them modern enough for an urban loft.
These adorable cloches are one of my favorite things at the shop! The antiqued white finish makes them great for weddings or events, but knowing me I’d probably use them around my bedroom to display my favorite trinkets because seriously, these are too cute to be used only at events.
I love this rug so much for the beautiful color scheme in it as much as the bird. You could base a whole room, heck even a whole house’s color palette off this rug.
And this lovely little thing is going on my birthday wish list, as I never realized, until I finally started looking, how hard it is to find a chic wall hook for holding coats or even just keys.
Just a little peek at some of the bird-inspired decor we love. Let us know if you find any other great spots for bird decor, until then I’m going to be sewing birds on to all my pillows.
Happy March!! If you’ve read even just a few of our blog posts, you know how much we love French Country decor! For the month of March we’re going to take a little bit of a closer look at some of our favorite aspects of this kind of decor. To kick things off, let’s just get a really good idea of what makes something “French country.”The basic elements of French country decor are a rustic, warm and welcoming style that is both casual and elegant.
It utilizes a large spectrum of colors, but frequently color palettes are taken from nature and the flowers of the French countryside which means you see a lot of pastel blues, pinks, and yellows, always mixed with a little gold gilding of course! Think Marie Antoinette colors (one of our favorite movies to draw inspiration from).

Wrought iron and natural woods are popular materials for home accessories and furniture bases, again adding to the rustic feel of this type of design.
A gorgeous rustic wooden table that we think would pair beautifully with some of our hand-picked wrought iron accessories…especially those chandeliers!
So just a quick look at the basics of French Country style. Be sure to check back in as we will be delving into this topic more in depth throughout the month with more specific ideas and suggestions for how to create the perfectly styled French Country abode. Maybe we’ll even do a few projects where we “frenchify” some of our home accessories!
I was flipping through the latest issue of Elle Decor when I did a double take at one of the ads. The fabrics featured were vibrant pinks, oranges and purples, and the styling was to die for. The fantastic fabrics are made by Manuel Canovas and upon further investigation, I fell in love with their most recent collection. Take a second to “ooh” “ahh” and drool over the sumptuous patterns and colors found within.
Valentine’s Day may have passed, but I’m still loving these graphic pink patterns.
Dove grey and turquoise is truly a beautiful combination.
And this last one has to be my favorite! It’s such a fun, quirky print and those tassels are too cute!
It’s obvious that these fabrics and prints are gorgeous, but more than that I thought they might serve as inspiration for a potential upcoming project 🙂
We don’t do a ton of self-promotion on here, but every once in awhile I just have to blab about our stuff a little because I love it so much! Such is the case with some of our newest products…ACCENT FURNITURE OBSESSIONS
So in love with this refectory table and dresser! Their finishes give them just enough of a modern edge to fit almost any decor, yet they’re still so personal and romantic.
CRATES AND CARRY-ALLS
I’m always looking for unique gift ideas, and this little wine transporter is perfect for a housewarming party. And with all amazingly warm winter we’ve been having in Austin, I’m already dreaming of spring picnics and the perfect picnic basket.
CHIC STORAGE SOLUTIONS
As soon as I saw that subway locker, I thought of the most awesome industrial bathroom with an entire wall of those things. Ok, maybe a little over the top but that’s what I like. And the cabinet on the bottom would make an awesome bar, it’s so unique and unexpected.
Just a quick look at some of the new gorgeous goodies to be found at The Inglenook Decor! Now if I can just figure out how to convince the boyfriend that I NEED these for Valentine’s day…;)
