A Lovely Rustic Vintage Wedding

I recently had the pleasure of attending one of my friend Jessica’s wedding!  It was beautiful, a perfect mix of rustic charm and vintage romance.  I’m no professional photographer, but I managed to snap a few shots of the wedding party and the decor that I think are pretty decent.  So come take a look at my friend’s first moments as Mrs. Chris Davis 🙂

Fall at the Casa {via Instagram}

So, I’m really finding out I’m not a pumpkin kind of gal when it comes to Fall decorating. I was wanting to buy a few but the big ones are at $25 a pop…yikes! So, my Fall season decorating is pretty much all-season or transition through the holiday decorating. They are not really the crafty kind either but I hope you can get a few ideas. I took a few snapshots via Instagram last week.

Above, my vintage brass candle holder set is finally on display.

My citrus caned pillows at the front porch via this talented gal reminds me of Meyer lemons.

A Metal tree branch standing beside our bedroom chair.

The vintage chair is a new find at a great deal! Broken in leather is so much better than new leather. And I did fall in love with this West Elm rug. This is at a corner in our bedroom. We just moved and the decorating is still very much ongoing.

And this folks doesn’t have anything to do with decorating but I just wanted to share my friend’s engagement invite. It’s chocolate! Well, it’s about half-eaten now. This is the sweetest invite ever…literally!

Happy Thursday everybody and Happy Fall! Follow me on Instagram here.

Lenoir Love

I have become a foodie…not! I’d like to think my taste has become so refined after watching Top Chef so much & learning fancy words. I’m still in awe when servers tells me their specials and throw in the words like “amuse bouche,” “veloute” or even the simple “reduction.” Frankly, these people should be poets!

Even though Austinites have been dubbed a Worst-dressed metropolitan city before {of which I complete disagree, we are mostly either Bohemian Chic [or not] or comfort posh [aka flip-flops]}, I must say, Austin restaurants are both fashionable and scrumptious! This weekend, I got to check out the newest hip resto in town off of South First, Lenoir. A friend is having her engagement party there. It is the perfect combination of laid-back chicness, rustic whimsy and a new take on Southern elegance.

It is teeny-tiny and totally unpretentious on the outside. We got to chat up with the Chef and their plans for the outdoor area {scattering antique furnaces, installing more chandeliers/lanterns playfully in branches — I would totally get married here!} while savoring a charcuterie platter and a rose’ in hand. That is Southern hospitality at it’s best.

It’s a must check-out whether you live here or an out-of-towner. Next up, I totally fell in love with Perla’s little sister, Clark’s on West 6th as well this week [gathering some pics for y’all]. Have a great week ahead!

Denizen04 | Hip & Happening

I guess I’m not a newbie in Austin anymore. This month marks my third year in this lovely town. One thing I learned early on, the hip and happening zip code here in Austin is 78704. SOCO’s [South Congress] home where food trailers, vintage and quirky shops abound and just a few blocks are one-of-a-kind music venues, amazing restaurants and coffee shops. Just check out the map here.Last week, I visited my friend, Catherine at the sales office of the newest community that’s being built in 78704 aptly called Denizen04. I was blown away! It’s being built with the Austin vibe and culture in mind. All about the outdoors, all about being green and all about having fun. Here’s the site plan:

What do you think? The flats starts in the $180’s and the townhomes in the mid $300’s. Even the details are pretty sweet. I’m quite partial to this combo:

Modern vibe, outdoor amenities, community and culture that you can get for $180k? I say, that’s pretty hip! Send my friend Cat a quick hello & she’ll give a pretty awesome tour. Contact her here.

Have I told you that my new fave restaurant is here as well? Just a tidbit…

My Sweet Week

Happy Sunday friends!

We finally got a cold front here in Austin which means the scorching heat is a little less this side of Texas. I’m hoping we get the Autumn leaves like the East States get so my Mom can see how beautiful & colorful that looks. I’ve been doing small projects at the house and there are a few artwork up now. Oh, like these architectural drawings I drew 10 years back {probably the only ones I’m proud of to put up} which are now at my office. The pair of white tufted chairs is also out of hiding from the storage.

I just started shopping this week and my first stop is the amazing shops on West Sixth, Jean-Marc Fray Antiques, Negrel’s & Fortney’s. I adore these places! Now off to check out more shops! Have a fabulous week!

My Sweet Week

Happy Sunday & happy long weekend! I’m sure your holiday is filled with either rest, fun & partying or finally checking off stuff on your to do list. Well, Familia Stevens is finally settled in the old, new house. The house apparently was built in the 1920’s. We finally have a yard {although it needs some prettifying}. But see the enormous branches & leaves in the pic? That is our tree & the wonderful view from the front porch. Call me silly but I do love nature & old trees inspire me.

Anywho, lots to do! Lots to buy until we can make it look the way we want to.

I’m thinking of painting the exterior brick like this.Tons of organizing needed for the home office.

I’m looking for a sideboard/bookcase & this one is calling my name. We need tons of area rugs. The list goes on and on and on.

I’m sure you’ll be quite busy with your list as well. Let me know how I can help & have a happy rest of the week!

A Clean Slate

Hello lovelies! I hope your weekend was swell.
We are now in the process  of moving from our condo to the house. It has been a slow but steady process with me being out of town for a week and helping my wonderful friend Carmela then styling a wedding this weekend at One World Theater. I am terribly sore but full of excitement in getting the new house together, it’s like starting on a clean slate. Daunting yet exhilarating!  Have an amazing week ahead.

My Sweet Week

Today is moving & packing week for us! Call me weird but I love packing. That’s the time I sort through stuff & delineate what I need | don’t need, coin in my head how everything is going to come together in the next space. It’s just the organizing Jedi in me. Yes, I can be a Jedi sometimes.

I saw this paper while I was packing…and pondered. Although we women love beautiful things, it doesn’t define us. Living beautifully is not about being chic and stylish all the time. It’s about thinking good thoughts, exuding love in every encounter we make and wishing everybody good will {I’ve watched way too much Miss U!}. So, this paper is going up my inspiration board. A short reminder of what my hours and days should be. Now, back to the joy of packing…..

Have a beautiful week ahead!

My Sweet Week

So, last week was all about spending time with family and friends. What could be better, right? I must say that as I am nearing my 40’s that I’m finally achieving a sweet balance in my life. Happiness is truly within reach. My ultimate dream may be so far away yet it seem to be just around the corner as well. Does that sound cliche’? I think I’m finally savoring the moments and snapshots of my life and feeling so much gratefulness for what “he” has given me so far. Read a short blog post and Q & A from a colleague here. And if you are a feeling introspective, this article is amazing: The Happiness Myth.

So, here are snapshots from last week:

1. My Mom enjoying her diabetic “cake” diet at AMOA Arthouse. Just kidding, her blood sugar has been getting lower. After all, I’m the food controller of the house. 🙂
2. Visited the 2nd street district, one of my fave shopping areas here in Austin, had to visit Mercury Design Studio of course!
3. My daughter. Ahhhh…enough said! She is by the way, 5′ 5″ now, way taller than me.
4. My SIL, Kelley is an amazing party planner. She got this vintage baseball theme together for a baby shower.
5. Chandelier swoon at Uncommon Objects just around the corner at SOCO.
6. Me & my friend Kindra at Tribeza‘s August Release Party. She is just overall fun, sweet and amazing!

I wish all of you an amazing week ahead!

My Sweet Week

Happy Sunday lovelies! Hope your week has been swell. Mine was quite busy last weekend then slowed down. More projects are on the horizon & I’m pretty psyched about my design project with The Vintage Laundry.

Here’s a recap of my fave snapshots from last week:

2. Adore my striped big toes…don’t judge me!
3. Sneak peek of one of the details from a recent shoot…tea rose literally! Rose courtesy of my friend Kaleigh from Meldeen.
4. Love my hair + make-up by talented artists, ummm, from looking like crap to fab, thanks Erica, Adrienne & Jenny

5. My mini-vase adorned by a little arrangement by Joanna’s Mom of The Plantation
